The Law Offices of Charny, Charny and Karpousis, P.A., a firm concentrating in divorce and family law based in Mt. Laurel, is pleased to announce Judith S. Charny, partner, and Meghan E. Bradley, of counsel, have joined the South Jersey Collaborative Law Group and become members of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. Both highly skilled in traditional divorce and family law litigation, Charny and Bradley offer a new collaborative divorce and family law approach to clients throughout the Southern New Jersey area.
As the name suggests, collaborative divorce is a team approach that focuses on the future of the individuals and their children. Each party is represented by a specially-trained attorney in a non-adversarial manner without going to court and when appropriate, collaboratively trained financial advisors, child psychologists, family therapists and other experts in their respective fields are brought in to assist with the process. As a result, private information is kept out of the public record, children are better protected and soon-to-be ex-spouses have greater control over the end result. Parties agree from the start that the process will be fully handled outside the court system however in the event that litigation occurs, both collaborative divorce attorneys must resign and cannot represent their clients in the litigation.
Charny and Bradley are both highly skilled with decades of experience in practicing matrimonial law and they have received training that conforms to the International Association of Collaborative Professional Interdisciplinary Training Standards for Collaborative Divorce and Family Law. Combined with a compassionate commitment to client well-being and the notable respect of peers, they are dedicated to representing clients with this new collaborative approach.
