On July 7, the Mt. Laurel Storm 10U travel softball squad won the United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) Class B New Jersey State Championship with a 10–0 victory over the Jersey Bandits.
The victory avenged their only loss in the tournament, which was a 6–5 loss to the Bandits on July 6. Despite oppressive heat and being the only town travel team in the tournament, the Storm went 4–1 against elite club teams on their way to obtaining the trophy.
The Storm earned its way to the championship game with a thrilling come from behind 3–2 semifinal win over the SJ Maniacs. There were multiple contributions from each player throughout the tournament, including stellar defensive plays, clutch hits and excellent pitching. The girls now move on to compete in the 2013 USSSA Eastern World Series in Salisbury, Maryland on July 17–21.
