Council President David Fleisher and Council Vice President Sara Lipsett will continue in their current roles through 2013.
The decision was made at the Monday, Jan. 14 council reorganization meeting.
Mayor Chuck Cahn spoke of his first year in office.
“With the help of a team of dedicated professionals and department directors, we have built a solid foundation for Cherry Hill, both today and for the future, and I am eager to begin a new chapter in 2013,” Cahn said in a release.
Some of his key accomplishments, he said in the statement, include a flat-rate budget, community wellness focus through his Mayor’s Wellness Campaign, and a public smoking ban ordinance that was adopted in late November.
Student Government Day
Students in the township get to learn firsthand of the goings on of council on Wednesday, Jan. 23 at the annual Student Government Day.
“We invite high school juniors from East and West and Camden Catholic,” said Township Spokeswoman Bridget Palmer. “They come in, they’re introduced to a couple community wide topics.”
From there, they are asked to come up with a solution or plan to the issues, which could range to include emergency preparedness or traffic calming.
The plans are developed and presented at a mock council meeting that night in front of their parents, families and friends.
“They get to sit with the council members and go through the whole process,” Palmer said.
Plus, Fleisher and Cahn will be on hand in the morning.
“The kids get to see government in action,” said Palmer.
Roughly 30 students are expected to attend.
“It’s fun for them,” she said.
Rabies clinic
Cats and dogs over three months of age should head to the Carmen Tilelli Community Center, 820 Mercer St., on Saturday, Jan. 26 from noon to 2 p.m. for a free rabies vaccination.
All animals are to be licensed for 2013 beforehand.
“They can pay for it that day, too,” said Palmer of the license.
According to a release, the fee is $25.20 for non-neutered and $22.20 for neutered dogs.
Only checks, no cash or credit, are accepted, Palmer said.
Owners must give proof of residency in Camden County, she added.

This year’s council meeting line up
The following meetings of Cherry Hill council were announced at the Monday, Jan. 14 meeting. All meetings will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the N. John Amato Council Chambers, 820 Mercer St., Cherry Hill, on Mondays, unless otherwise noted.
This month, the next meeting will be held on Jan. 28.
Meetings are scheduled for Feb. 11, Feb. 25, March 11, Wednesday, March 27, April 8, April 22, May 13, Tuesday, May 28, June 10, June 24, July 8, July 22, Aug. 12, Aug. 26, Sept. 9, Sept. 23, Tuesday, Oct. 15, Oct. 28, Tuesday, Nov. 12, Nov. 25 and Dec. 9.
On Dec. 30, the last meeting of the year, will be held at 9 a.m. for bill pay.
