About 20 years ago this article never would have existed, but today it’s a necessity. School is just around the corner and students and parents alike will be flocking to the different school district website to see their class lists, download permission forms, physical forms, and even track their grades.
Parents of students at Moorestown Township Public School District can access all three elementary schools, two middle schools, and Moorestown High School at the district’s website, www.mtps.com. The district website is a great source of information, breaking news, and school changes for all of the schools in the Moorestown Township school district.
The welcome page features breaking news information running down the right hand side of the page. Here parents and students can view upcoming events, and any public documents that have been released in the past few months.
Parents can access each individual school page by clicking on the “schools” tab at the top of the welcome page and selecting an individual school. Here parents can access specific information about each school, school calendars, and can receive faculty information.
The website also offers three specialized programs that parents can sign up for to receive specific school information and information about their students. All three of these programs require parents to sign up for an “account” and to log in with each visit.
The first is an “online backpack” program, which can be found at the very top of the school district welcome page. By signing into the program parents can easily cycle through breaking new and upcoming events for each district school.
The second is the “Genesis” program, which acts as a portal for parents to track their student’s educational careers. Parents can log into the portal, which officially opens on Aug. 27, and look at their children’s upcoming assignment, notes from their teachers, and grades.
Finally, parents can sign up for a “school fusion” account which gives them access to just about everything within the district. According to the district, the account “will give you access to the tools within the website such as a personal calendar, a file storage area, a messaging system, and the option to become members of different Fusion pages within our sites (example: Home and School, Athletics, Classroom).”
The website also hosts information about the board of education, where interested visitors can see information about all of the current board members, upcoming BOE meetings, agendas, and minutes.
To see exactly what the website offers, visit the district’s site at www.mtps.com.
