In the movie “Cool Hand Luke,” a young Paul Newman is arrested at the start of the film for using a wrench to take the heads off of parking meters. Substitute a hammer for a wrench and cars for parking meters, and basically the same thing happened last Friday night in Marlton.
On March 11, 2011 at approximately 10:15 p.m., the Evesham Police Department responded to the parking lot of a Carrollo’s Bar and Grill, Route 73 North in Marlton for a report of a male committing acts of criminal mischief, according to the report.
Responding officers found that a male used a hammer to smash the windows on two parked vehicles. These acts caused approximately $1,200 in damage to one vehicle and approximately $600 in damage to the other.
Police located the suspect on Princess Avenue, Marlton and arrested the 51-year-old suspect. Duri
ng the arrest the suspect physically resisted the officers efforts, no police officers were injured during the arrest, according to the report.
The suspect was charged with two counts of criminal mischief, resisting arrest and related offenses.
He was committed to the Burlington County Jail in default of $20,000 bail.
