Mayor’s Message: Holiday season in Evesham

Thanksgiving and the holiday season is always a special time of year here in Evesham. It is a great time to enjoy celebrating our families, friends and community. This Thanksgiving I was extra grateful to have the honor to serve as your mayor. As your mayor I think it is important to communicate about recent events and what is coming up in town, so here’s a quick update.

Thank you to everyone who came out for our annual Turkey Trot. It was wonderful to see so many families enjoying a little exercise before joining for a turkey dinner. Extra special thanks to all the volunteers and township employees who work together to make these events successful!

I was glad to be able to stop by over 20 of Evesham’s amazing small businesses on Small Business Saturday. We are thankful that these small business owners chose Evesham. I hope you will have time to shop local this holiday season and all year long!

In November we also celebrated our veterans. Here in Evesham, we celebrate and thank our veterans every day. Our town was honored to receive the “We Value Our Veteran’s Award” from the State of New Jersey. Deputy Mayor Cooper accepted the award on behalf of the town. We will continue to serve our veterans and give back to those heroes who have given so much for our freedom. Thank you for your service.

Our town also received the bronze-level recognition from Sustainable Jersey. Through the combined efforts of the Township and the Evesham Green Team we were able to complete and compile various sustainability actions and priority items. We are currently working to receive silver-level recognition and hope to find out by the end of the year.  We will continue to make sustainability a priority for this year and the future.

We are thankful to all our residents who serve on various boards and commissions. There are board openings and we encourage and welcome anyone interested in serving to please fill out the citizen leadership form on our township website by Dec. 6. We also live stream all our town council, planning and zoning board meetings, so even if you cannot make it in person you are still able to watch live or watch them at a later, more convenient time.

Again, I thank you for allowing me to serve our incredible community. Whether you live, work, play or own a business-one thing is for sure-Evesham is home. I look forward to seeing you around town this holiday season.  Please feel free to call or email us anytime with your concerns or ideas. You can also follow me on Facebook or Instagram to keep up on what is going on in town. Enjoy the holidays!

Jaclyn Veasy

Mayor, Township of Evesham
