County clerk to perform Halloween weddings at Historic Prison Museum

The lucky couples may choose to hold the ceremony on the grand steps to the prison or in their very own cell.

County Clerk Joanne Schwartz will perform weddings at the Historic Prison Museum in Mount Holly on Oct. 31 from the hours of 1 to 7 p.m. The lucky couples may choose to hold the ceremony on the grand steps to the prison or in their very own cell. “Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, so why not wed on a festive day,” said Schwartz. “Forever more you will be able to celebrate your wedding anniversary on this wonderful fun fall holiday.”

Couples will be asked to make appointment in advance and arrive a prior to time to complete the necessary paperwork.

Schwartz will also perform Holiday Weddings at the Historic Smithville Mansion in Eastampton on Dec. 13 from the hours of 1 to 7 p.m.

County Clerk’s wedding events fill up quickly so please call to be sure an appointment is available. The couple will need to obtain a marriage license from the town in which either of the parties resides. It takes 72 hours to obtain the license so it cannot be left until the last minute.
