On July 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., George Ferris, a member of the Cinnaminson Relay for Life Committee, will be holding his second annual Cars for a Cure car show to raise money for Cinnaminson’s Relay for Life. After the success of the first Cars for a Cure event last year, which featured 85 cars, this year’s event will be held at 1103 Route 130 in Cinnaminson and looks to be bigger and better than years past.
Ferris has been involved in the Cinnaminson Relay for Life for a while and has also been a lifelong car lover. While he owns two classic cars, the ability to put together his two passions to raise money for others is something he loves to do. While this is only his second Cars for a Cure event, Ferris has put together about 15 car shows over the years.
“I am really into cars,” said Ferris. “I’ve run over 15 car shows and the car show community is really nice. The community always come out and support the events. We have classic cars, new generation cars, modern cars, you name it. The cars are very unique, whether they are a classic car or if they are newer cars with a unique shape or color scheme.”
“For example, they can be a new Camaro with a different paint scheme or cars from the 1920s,” Ferris continued. “Those kind of cars can be very nostalgic.”
According to Ferris, all of the proceeds from the car show will go directly to the Cinnaminson Relay for Life on Sept. 28 at the Cinnaminson High School. The car show will not only allow spectators to view classic cars, but Ferris will also be raffling off a few baskets and providing information about the American Cancer Society.
Those interested in having a car in the show or who want more information about the event can contact Ferris at [email protected]. Fliers have also been posted on Facebook on the Cinnaminson Friends & Neighbors group forum, Cinnaminson Strong and the Delran community pages.
Those wanting to enter their car in the car show can make a check out to the American Cancer Society and mail it to George Ferris at 10 Chalfont St. in Cinnaminson. Please include your name, make, model and year of your car. The fee will be $15 prior to July 20 and $20 on the day of the show.
“This is a rain-or-shine event,” said Ferris. “Last year, we had a good crowd come out and about 85 cars. The weather wasn’t the best, but as long as the weather is good this year we should have over 100 cars. Some people don’t want to take their cars out in bad weather so hopefully it’s a nice day out.”
