Police provide latest update on burglary suspect, pursuit

The following statement was provided by the Mantua Township Police Department.

On Feb. 13, just after midnight, we were informed of a burglary of a convenience store that had just occurred in another jurisdiction. Ptl. Hauss was in the area of Glassboro Road and started to check the businesses in that area. While checking the area, we were informed that the suspect was driving a white Econoline van. Ptl. Hauss observed a vehicle fitting that description entering Route 55. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, however, the vehicle fled, and a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit continued into Camden City where the suspect lost control of his vehicle and crashed on an exit ramp.

Ptl. Hauss was able to quickly place the subject under arrest for eluding. The suspect was identified as Michael Neild of Blackwood. Neild was lodged in the Salem County Jail and the vehicle was impounded for further investigation to the burglary.
