Township committee members throw first pitches
A message from Mantua Little League
Baseball and softball season opened in Mantua on April 14.
This Opening Day celebration marked Mantua Little League’s thirty-third season. The day began with a ceremony that included all players parading onto the fields, Gina Corso of Jersey Gina Entertainment playing the National Anthem on electric violin, the Mantua VFW Color Guard, the reading of the Little League Pledge, Mayor Pete Scirrotto throwing out the first pitch for baseball and committeewoman, Eileen Lukens, throwing out the first pitch for softball.
Following the ceremony the kids had their photos taken and the teams took the field for games. Concessions were packed and it was free hot dog day for all players and $1 dollar dog day for everyone else. It was a beautiful day and an amazing start to our 2018 Season.
