The following information is on file with the Mt. Laurel Township Police Department:
On May 29 at approximately 11:30 p.m., officials with the Mt. Laurel Township Police Department say police conducted a routine motor vehicle stop in the area of Route 38 and Ark Road.
While police conducted the stop, police say a passenger allegedly fled the motor vehicle on foot.
During the duration of the stop, police also discovered the vehicle was allegedly involved in an assault.
According to police, it was previously reported the individuals in questions allegedly went to the 7-Eleven/Exxon on Route 38 and Ark Road and asked the gas attendant for a cigarette.
When the attendant denied the individuals, police say an argument ensued.
According to police, the individuals allegedly struck the attendant in the face and repeatedly punched him fleeing in a vehicle.
Police say the victim sustained what appeared to be a broken nose and facial injuries that EMS considered significant.
According to police, the victim was able to identify the individuals prior to being transported to the hospital.
Police say two of the individuals were subsequently arrested.
Police transported a 20-year-old female from Mt. Holly and a 21-year-old male from Long Branch to MLPD headquarters for processing.
According to police, police also found the arrested male to allegedly be in possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
Police say the male was remanded to Burlington County Jail and the female was released on a summons.
Further video surveillance is pending and charges are pending against the individual who fled on foot.
