Monica Devereaux (nee Waldron) of Moorestown passed away on April 28 at the age 86. Monica was a longtime resident of Moorestown and was a very active member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church of Moorestown.
Monica was born in Liverpool in the United Kingdom where she was raised, took to music and played various instruments with her sisters as their own group known as the Waldron Sisters. She continued to perform after coming to the states at many local venues. Monica had worked for more than 20 years at the Bellmawr office of the United States Postal Service.
She was the wife of the late Joseph and mother of Monica Contarino, Catherine Devereaux, Joseph Devereaux, Brian Devereaux, Colette Devereaux, Lisa Devereaux and the late Thomas Devereaux. She was the grandmother of 10 and sister of the late Winifred O’Donnell and Bernadette Hirokawa.
A visitation will take place on Monday, May 6 from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Lewis Funeral Home located at 78 E. Main St. in Moorestown. A Â mass of Christian burial will follow Monday at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church located at 42 W. Main St. Moorestown. Interment will be private at Brigadier William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown.
