Mantua Police crime blotter

Police in Mantua responded to disputes, motor vehicle accidents and more.

The following is on file at the Mantua Township Police Department:

September 7th

· Officers responded to Wenonah for a domestic dispute between an adult child and her parents over a cell phone that was taken away.

· Officers took a fraud report in which the victim had EZ-Pass charges that they did not incur.

· Officers responded to a minor crash at Omni Recycling in which a forklift had struck a refuse truck.

· Officers responded to a neighbor dispute in the Villages of Berkley over a parent walking through his parking space to get his child from the bus.

· Units responded to the Wawa parking lot on Center Street for a minor crash. One vehicle needed to be towed.

· Officers assisted a motorist that had locked their keys in their vehicle at their residence

· Officers responded to a crash on Jessup Mill Road where the vehicle struck a tree, flipped, and caught on fire. The driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

September 8th

· Ptl. Schnarr conducted a motor vehicle stop and arrested the occupant for outstanding warrants

· Units responded to a neighbor dispute in Berkley Village.

· Units responded to a minor crash on Woodbury Glassboro Road.

· Units responded to a domestic dispute between brother and sister in Wenonah.

· Caller found a wallet on side of road. The owner was located and nothing was reported missing from the wallet.

· Patrols took a crash report in the area of Main Street and Mantua Boulevard.

· Officers responded to Breakneck Road for a report of gunshots. Investigation found a homeowner was having a party and fireworks were set off.

· Patrols took a crash report of Mantua Boulevard and Center Street and both vehicles needed to be towed from the scene.

September 9th

· Patrols responded to the Villages of Berkley for a domestic dispute between a boyfriend and girlfriend. It was verbal only and half the party left for the night.

· Officers took a report of theft where someone had damaged a roadside farm stand cash box.

September 10th

· Officers took a report for criminal mischief at the Tea House in Wenonah. The juveniles suspects were identified and community service will be completed

· Officers took a crash report that occurred at Mantua Boulevard and Center Street but was reported at Rowan College of Gloucester County

· Patrols took a crash report on Glassboro Road in Wenonah involving a box truck

· Patrols took another crash report on Glassboro Road in Wenonah. One vehicle needed to be towed

· Officers took a fraud complaint for a victim that had his bank information used on an on-line gambling website.

· Officers responded to the Pinebrook Apartments for a vehicle window that was smashed.

· Officers assisted Woodbury Police with a stolen cell phone investigation. The stolen phone’s GPS was active in a residence in Mantua. Officers responded to speak to the occupants of the residence. When the occupants denied entry, officers attempted to secure the residence in anticipation of an application for a search warrant. One occupant refused and was arrested. The phone was later located inside the residence.

September 11th

· Officers participated in the 16th Patriot’s Day Remembrance held at the Municipal Building.

· Patrols responded to the Wawa on Center Street for a minor crash in the parking lot

· Patrols took a crash report on Mantua Boulevard in which a vehicle ran off the road and needed to be towed.

· Officers took a theft report where a township trash can was stolen.

· Officers responded to a minor crash in the parking lot of the Wawa on Route 45.

· Officers assisted a motorist at Rita’s Water Ice that had locked their keys in their vehicle.

· Ptl. Layton conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested the subject for outstanding warrants.

· Ptl. Mroz conducted a motor vehicle stop and arrested an occupant for outstanding warrants

· Ptl. Mroz arrested another subject from a car stop for active warrants

September 12th

· Patrols responded to the Sewell section for a report of gunshots being heard. Investigation found a subject had discharged a shotgun into the ground as he thought he heard people approaching his property. He was charged accordingly.

· Officers assisted a motorist that had locked their keys in their vehicle at the Target store.

· Officers responded to Wenonah for a report of debris in the roadway. Officers removed same

· Officers responded to a one vehicle crash on Heritage Road and needed to be towed from the scene
