“Helping Hands Hoagie Sale” committee members prepare for annual Super Bowl Sunday fundraiser

The massive hoagie sale is scheduled to be held on Feb. 4

Preparations for the annual Washington Township Helping Hands Super Bowl Hoagie Sale are under way, as 2018 marks the 23rd anniversary of the event that benefits local families in need. The massive hoagie sale is hosted annually on Super Bowl Sunday, this year Feb. 4.

The Changing Our World Project, WTHS Students in Action and members of the six elementary and three middle school Future Acts clubs, along with student-athletes from the high schools, will join other community volunteers in making and selling the sandwiches, with all proceeds from the fundraising event going directly to local families facing serious medical situations.

Two-foot party hoagies — in classic Italian, turkey or cheese — are the equivalent of two hoagies and are available with or without onions for $10 each. Hoagie trays to feed parties of between 10 and 12 people are available for $50. The hoagies are made with the finest quality meats and bread and are assembled fresh by volunteers — approximately 300 will arrive at 6 a.m. on Super Bowl Sunday for this effort — participating in this worthwhile community service project. Hoagies can be picked up between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the WTHS Ganttown Road entrance (529 Hurffville-Cross Keys Road, Sewell).

Last year the hoagie sale reached the $601,000 mark in all-time funds raised for those facing life-threatening illnesses and related medical costs. This year’s sale will benefit numerous local residents, a number that makes it impossible to tell every individual story.

In addition to individual hoagie orders, the fundraising group prepares hundreds of hoagies for area homeless that are paid through by lead sponsors Inspira Health Network and the Washington Township Education Association, as well as through Pay It Forward Helping Hands for Hoagies for Humanity grants.

Interested in placing an order or making a donation? Please contact Maddy LaVoe at Orchard Valley Middle School at (856) 582–5353, ext. 5709, by email at mlavoe@wtps.org, or by visiting www.thecowproject.com by Thursday, Feb. 1. All checks for orders should be made payable to Changing Our World Project.
