2018 reorganization meeting
On Jan. 3, the township held its annual reorganization meeting, during which time council president and vice president were chosen and many individuals were appointed to the township’s several boards and committees. I would like to congratulate the 2018 Council President Joe Perry and Vice President Sean Longfellow. I am confident council and I will continue to do a great job making decisions which are in the best interests of the residents of Washington Township. I would also like to congratulate the volunteers who were appointed to the boards and committees. They were chosen because of their dedication and determination to make a difference in Washington Township. I appreciate everyone’s common goal, which is the betterment of Washington Township.
Shop Washington Township official launch
Also presented at the reorganization meeting were the participating businesses in the Shop Washington Township Program. I was happy to announce the official launch and the great mix of businesses for which residents can earn property tax rewards. Residents will be receiving their Shop Washington Township cards along with a Washington Township calendar in the mail in the next couple of weeks. Additional cards are now available for pick-up at the Municipal Building in the Parks and Recreation Office and Clerk’s Office, as well as the 19 participating businesses. Remember, you must register your card prior to using it at the businesses so you can save money on your property taxes. To register your card, please visit www.propertytaxcard.com/ShopWashingtonTownship/register and also click “Participants” to see the list of participating businesses. I would like to thank our sponsor Republic Bank who will be hosting a Shop Washington Township Launch Party on Saturday, Feb. 3 from 10 a.m. to noon. All residents and businesses are invited to celebrate this new program to keep business local in Washington Township. I hope to see many of you there. If you own a business in Washington Township and are interested in joining the Shop Washington Township Program, please contact my Administrative Assistant Alicia Rotella at [email protected], or call (856) 589–0575.
Snow removal
I would like to acknowledge and thank the tireless and dedicated Department of Public Works employees, the Washington Township police and first responders for their hard work before, during and after the recent snow storm. With the temperatures at record lows, it made the task of clearing snow a difficult one, but they tackled it head on and worked around the clock to ensure all roads were plowed. As we experience extreme weather conditions, I would like to thank the residents for their cooperation and patience, as I know conditions can be frustrating in these extreme low temperatures and weather events. Please understand our dedicated public works and emergency management employees work around the clock until all roads are plowed and consistently respond to emergency calls in these events. I thank them for their dedication to keeping this township safe. We appreciate the many kind words received from residents and businesses on a job well done. My goal is always to evaluate and improve the services we offer to residents. For more information on our snow removal process, please visit our website at www.TownshipNJ.com.
