Cardinal Village Senior Living Community to collect backpacks and school supplies for Operation Backpack

Press release from Cardinal Village Senior Living Community

Back-to-school sales are beginning to appear. But, even with discounted prices, many families are still unable to provide their children with the appropriate school supplies. Join Cardinal Village Senior Living Community in their efforts to collect new backpacks and other grade-specific supplies to support Operation Backpack®: Volunteers of America, Delaware Valley Chapter.

From Monday, July 30 through Friday, August 24 you can drop off a new backpack, grade-specific supplies, or both at Cardinal Village located at 455 Hurffville-Cross Keys Road, Sewell, between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.. School supplies are being accepted for Pre-K through grade 12. Acceptable items include composition notebooks, 24-pack of crayons, a box of #2 pencils, pencil pouches or cases, rulers, glue sticks, highlighters, assignment planners, calculators, USB flash drives and more. For a complete list of items by grades visit www.voa-gny.org/what-goes-in-a-backpack. No red backpacks, please.

Operation Backpack is a back-to-school drive, conducted by VOA. The campaign relies on 100 percent support from the community in the form of financial underwriting, donations of product and services and spreading the word. Each year backpacks and school supplies are then given to local homeless children in time for the first day of school. To learn more, visit https://www.voa-gny.org/operation-backpack.

Each adult person that donates will receive a scratch-off lottery ticket as a way of saying “thank you” for their donation and support. For more information, please call (856) 582–5292.
