WTHS interact club buddy up at Buddy Walk to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month

Members of the Washington Township High School Interact Club, under the direction of teachers April Renzetti and Natalie Taylor, were among volunteers at the 2018 Buddy Walk at Washington Lake Park on Oct. 7.
The Buddy Walk® was developed by the National Down Syndrome Society in 1995 to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October and to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down Syndrome. Since 1995, the Buddy Walk® has become the premier advocacy event for people with Down Syndrome in the United States. It is also the world’s most widely recognized public awareness program for the Down Syndrome community.
As of 2017, the Buddy Walk® has grown to more than 330,000 participants raising $14.2 million in more than 250 events around the world. All money raised by the Buddy Walk® benefits local programs and services, as well as the national advocacy and public awareness initiatives of NDSS that benefit all individuals with Down Syndrome.
