The weekly message from Mayor Joann Gattinelli
6th Annual Night of Wigs and Wishes Gala
On Sunday, Nov. 4 I attended the 6th Annual Night of Wigs and Wishes Gala. Having attended this gala in the past, each year I am more inspired with the work, generosity and commitment of Martino Cartier as well as the team it took to facilitate this amazing gala. We met inspirational women and children who spoke about their courageous battle with cancer and through the encouragement and help of Wigs and Wishes, they continue to fight with tremendous support. Wigs and Wishes by Martino Cartier is a network of salon owners, stylists and beauty industry experts working together to provide women fighting cancer with a wig along with granting wishes to children battling childhood cancer. Martino Cartier is a salon owner in Washington Township as well as an educator, inspirational speaker and TV personality. Veterans Day breakfast
On Sunday, Nov. 11 I had the privilege of celebrating Veteran’s Day at a breakfast in the CAC building. We honored those men and women who fought for our country and the freedom we enjoy today. My appreciation for all Veterans and their love for our country is inspiring. Our Veterans have educated us, protected and enriched our lives. We cannot thank them enough and words do not justify the sacrifices made by them. They remind us that freedom is not free and they are willing to take time away from their families, face endless dangers and sometimes pay the ultimate price for protecting our country. Their service and sacrifices will never be forgotten and I am truly grateful. Our country is a better place because of the Veteran men and women like those I met at the Veteran’s day breakfast. After breakfast, we walked over to Veteran’s Park for the official Veteran’s Day ceremony marking the 100th anniversary since the armistice of World War I.
