Board certified by the American Board of Surgery, he is a certified wound specialist through the American Board of Wound Management. Dr. Smeal is a 23-year resident of Mullica Hill, where he resides with his family.
Chronic wounds affect 6.7 million people in the U.S. and the incidence is rising, fueled by an aging population and increasing rates of diseases and conditions such as diabetes, obesity and the late effects of radiation therapy. The Center for Advanced Wound Care & Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy at Kennedy is located behind Kennedy University Hospital in Washington Township, just off Egg Harbor Road. The center cares for patients suffering from chronic wounds caused by diabetes, poor circulation, prior radiation treatments, vascular disease or any number of other conditions. This convenient outpatient treatment facility provides comprehensive treatment for non-healing wounds — meaning a wound or sore that hasn’t significantly improved in a month, or completely healed in two months.
