The 80 Percent by 2018 Pledge event encouraged attendees to sign a pledge supporting the cancer screening program
Dozens of Kennedy associates, physicians and leaders turned out for the recent 80 by 2018 Pledge colon cancer screening event at the Kennedy Cancer Center.
March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, and Kennedy Health joined forces with more than 500 local and national organizations to increase colorectal cancer screening rates across the country. Eighty percent by 2018 is a shared goal to have 80 percent of American adults 50 and older screened for colorectal cancer by 2018.
The initiative — led by the American Cancer Society, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable — was formally launched at Kennedy at the pledge signing event on March 24. Dozens of attendees signed a “pledge board” in support of the screening program. In addition, the DaVinci Robotic Surgical System, used for minimally invasive colon cancer procedures, was on display for demonstrations.
