Music at Bunker Hill to honor history, classical music

The concert will be held on Sunday, June 4, at 3 p.m.

Music at Bunker Hill and the Washington Township Historic Preservation Commission will present a unique concert honoring the history of the original Bunker Hill Church, c. 1869, to be held on Sunday, June 4, at 3 p.m. at the church located in the Olde Stone House Village at 208 Egg Harbor Road, Sewell.

This collaboration between the popular chamber music venue at Bunker Hill and the five acre historic site known as the Olde Stone House Village, is expected to introduce music lovers to the historic site, and lovers of the village to classical music.

Prior to the concert, attendees can tour the Olde Stone House Village, a five acre site which houses the 1736 Morgan House after which the village is named, the Quay Farmhouse, the Turnersville Post Office, the original Bunker Hill Church and the Blackwood Railroad Station, all housing artifacts from 18th and 19th century life in Washington Township.

Following the concert, ticket holders are invited to join the artists for refreshments and conversation at the railroad station, directly adjacent to the church. Tickets for this concert are being offered at the reduced price of only $10, with student tickets available for $8.

Artists Siwoo Kim, violin, Brendan Speltz, violin, William Frampton, viola, and Sarah Rommel, cello, will be performing a program of 19th century chamber music including Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll and Brahms Hungarian Dances.

Tickets can be purchased at www.musicatbunkerhill.org and printed out by the buyer. A limited number of tickets may also be available at the door.

This event is made possible through grant funds from the Gloucester County Cultural and Heritage Commission and the state Council of the Arts and supported by Jim Lizon of Weichert Realtors of Turnersville.
