The weekly message from Mayor Joann Gattinelli

From left, Kevin Faix, Cindy Wilson, Pastor Joe, Mayor Joann Gattinelli and officer Brent Nelson pose for a picture at the St. John’s Church Community Day. Special to The Sun.

On May 10, I was pleased to attend the luncheon at the Senior Center which was hosted and sponsored by the Washington Township Police Department. We also celebrated the 101 birthday for one of our senior citizens! Chief Gurcsik, other police officers and I were happy to sing happy birthday to this lovely woman and member of our community. I would like to thank Chief Gurcsik and the rest of the police department for sponsoring such a fun event for our seniors. I know they thoroughly enjoyed themselves and appreciated the efforts in putting this event together.

Republic Bank and Jefferson Health Offer Wellness Event

On May 17, I attended a wellness session event hosted by Republic Bank and Jefferson Health. This wellness event included complimentary blood pressure and body mass index (BMI) screenings. I am glad to see two successful organizations in Washington Township who are coming together for an important purpose. This wellness session was a way to offer the residents of Washington Township an opportunity to check on their current health status. I was happy to stop in and see many individuals taking advantage of this opportunity in our community. I would like to thank Republic Bank, Jefferson Health, and the Washington Township Chamber of Commerce for their dedication in sponsoring this event.

St. John’s Church: Community Day

On May 19, I was pleased to attend a community day hosted by St. John’s Church. I was fortunate enough to meet and speak with many residents of Washington Township. I spent time with Washington Township Police, Fire, Ambulance and other first responders who were there to volunteer their time. This community event was an opportunity for residents to interact with and meet new people. There were many vendors present that were offering food, music, and activities for the children and much more. I would like to thank St. John’s Church and the individuals who organized this community day for all to enjoy.

Joann Gattinelli is the Mayor of Washington Township. She can be reached at [email protected].
