Virtua at the Top of Health Information Technology

People, processes and technology enables them to lead the way

For the fourth consecutive year, Virtua has been named one of the Most Wired Hospitals and Health Systems in the U.S. by the American Hospital Association’s Health Forum and the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives. “The Most Wired hospitals are using every available technology option to create more ways to reach their patients in order to provide access to care,” said AHA President and CEO Rick Pollack. “They are transforming care delivery, investing in new delivery models in order to improve quality, provide access and control costs.”

“Virtua’s latest Most Wired designation shows our commitment to advancing patient care with technology that keeps patients at the center, and supports the clinicians in the outstanding work they do every day,” Al Campanella, Executive Vice President of Strategic Business Growth and Analytics for Virtua

“Keeping the patient at the center of every decision, including technology, has enabled Virtua to always be a leader in Health Information Technology adoption” said Tom Gordon, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer, “A current example of this is Virtua’s new EMR platform (ONEVirtua) which will further support Virtua’s strategies around Quality, Safety, and Patient Engagement.”

Gordon, in addition to keeping Virtua at forefront of healthcare technology, was recently appointed President of the New Jersey Chapter of the national organization Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, a non-profit organization focused on providing leadership in healthcare information technology management.

According to HIMSS, the organization “promotes professional approaches to the operation, development, and improvement of health care information and management systems that support the provision of high quality patient care at the lowest practical cost.”

These processes and technologies are just the beginning for Virtua. A few months ago Virtua launched an Innovation Center, which it expects to grow and launch Virtua and its patients into the future.
