Voorhees-based Wow Science to hold event at Valleybrook Country Club
On Aug. 21, millions of Americans will witness the moon move in between the Earth and the sun to create what is known as a total solar eclipse. A total solar eclipse occurs when the sun, the moon and the Earth line up in a row causing the moon to cast a shadow over the planet.
“According to NASA, only 14 states are in the path of totality and will be able to experience a total solar eclipse,” says the Franklin Institute. “The total solar eclipse will move from west to east starting with Oregon at 10:15 a.m. PDT and ending with South Carolina at 2:36 p.m. EDT. The 12 states in between are Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, and North Carolina. However, everyone else in the U.S. will get to see at least a partial eclipse.”
Here in the Philadelphia region, we can expect to see 79.9 percent of the sun covered by the moon. Want to experience this amazing phenomenom first hand?
