Say hello to your new board member

By ROBERT LINNEHAN

New Voorhees Township Board of Education member Matthew Dortch will be sworn into his full-term, three year seat on Wednesday, May 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the district administration building.

Dortch defeated the previous BOE president Richard Wojdon in an extremely close race, winning by just seven votes. Dortch had 1,404 votes to Wojdon’s 1,397.

“I’m thrilled! This is a victory for parents, and a step towards a better educational future for the children of Voorhees.

I would like to thank Richard Wojdon for his selfless dedication to the community for decades. Although I’m sorry to see him unseated as president of the Board of Education, I promise to bring to the board the same level of dedication, along with new ideas and renewed energy.

I’m looking forward to challenging my fellow board members, our administrators and teachers to reach peek performance. Our children and our neighbors deserve nothing less.”

He will be sworn into his seat Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., along with incumbents Bruce Karpf and Richard Nelson.
