Camden County conducting traffic sign inventory

The Camden County Department of Public Works is in the process of inventorying traffic signs on county roadways.

“I consider the maintenance of our County roadways to be a top priority of the Freeholder Board, and that includes improving the placement and readability of our traffic signs,” said Freeholder Ian Leonard, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Works. “Residents and motorists may see this inventory being conducted in their neighborhoods or during their commutes.”

The County has contracted with LiDAR Mobile Mapping to perform the Traffic Sign Inventory.

The consultant will be driving a marked vehicle equipped with cameras and GPS units that capture roadway images and data across the County on Dec. 5 and 6. This process may require driving a road several times to collect the required data.

“The Camden County Department of Public Works is responsible for maintaining over 400 center line miles of county roadway and 50 bridges,” Leonard said. “We are continually making roadway upgrades and identifying areas in need of future improvement.”

To report concerns on Camden County roadways, call our Public Works Hotline at 566–2920 or visit www.camdencounty.com.
