The Voorhees Animal Orphanage Meet & Greet series will kick off this Saturday, Oct. 24 with a Halloween open house.
Voorhees Meet & Greets are designed for the public to get to know their local shelter, enjoy light refreshments, meet VAO staff and animals, learn something new, and perhaps find an addition to one’s family.
The VOA seeks to support animal lovers, prospective and recent adopters, VAO shelter animals and alumni, and the community at large by providing meaningful educational programming — from what to expect after adopting, to general wellness and behavior, to breed knowledge, safety, and more.
All events take place at the VAO, 419 Cooper Road and are best for ages 8 and up.
Programs in 2015 are free, but the VAO asks that attendees consider making a donation. Do not bring outside animals to the shelter unless clearly specified for a particular event.
October is National Animal Safety & Wellness Month and Adopt a (shelter) Dog Month.
For the VAO Halloween Open House on Oct. 24 from 1–3 p.m., over the course of two hours, the VAO will have several 15 minute sessions, including: Pet & Home Fire Safety — with the Voorhees Fire District (tentative), Useful Tips When Thinking About Adopting — with expert VAO Staff, Dog Training Demonstration — with expert VAO Staff. A showcase of beloved animals (some in costume), Trick or Treating.
Please note, members of the public do not have to stay the entire time. This is a true open house format: in and out. Stay for some, stay for all.
