Voorhees Library gets book donation through Reading is Fundamental campaign

Library

The Camden County Library system is reporting that the Macy’s store in the Voorhees Town Center has earned 580 books for the Voorhees branch of the Camden County Library from Reading is Fundamental, through its annual ‘Be Book Smart’ campaign this past year.

In 2015, the Voorhees branch Library was again selected as the local impact site for the Macy’s campaign through which RIF is giving the library funds to get 500 books. Because the Voorhees store encouraged its customers to buy the most ‘Be Book Smart’ coupons in its district, Macy’s also earned a special eighty-book multicultural collection for the M. Allan Vogelson Regional Branch library.

How the Campaign Worked

The campaign provided an opportunity for Macy’s customers to support RIF by giving $3 at any register and receiving a $10 coupon good toward any purchase of $30 or more. Macy’s donated 100 percent of every $3 to RIF, and RIF allocates books to organizations like Camden County Library, which offers scores of reading programs each month for children that are free and open to the public.

The library will put the multicultural collection into circulation at its Voorhees branch and plans to use the RIF funds to buy 500 board books from its store that will be used for the library’s Early Literacy Initiative that it started developing this past year

“This partnership with Macy’s and RIF has proven so beneficial to the people we serve, specifically young children in local communities. It’s a testament to the commitment of both Macy’s and RIF to advancing literacy through our library,” says Linda Devlin as the director of the Camden County Library System.
