Mayor’s Column: Voorhees to host small business event on May 5

The key to a vibrant business community is not only to generate new businesses, but also to help existing businesses thrive.

If you own a small or home based business in Voorhees, the Township Economic Development Committee invites you to an evening of connecting and learning. Join Township Officials, members of the Voorhees Business Association and members of the Economic Development Committee on Thursday, May 5, to network with other like-minded professionals in the area and learn about what Voorhees has to offer our small business community and how we can better support small business growth. The event is being held at the Voorhees Town Hall, 2400 Voorhees Town Center from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and light refreshments will be offered. To register, go to the Voorhees website, www.voorheesnj.com and click on the Voorhees Township Home-Based and Small Business Network Event link.

Every year since 1963, the President of the United States has issued a proclamation announcing National Small Business Week, which recognizes the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners. More than half of Americans either own or work for a small business and they create two out of every three new jobs in the U.S. each year. May 1 to May 7, 2016 is National Small Business Week.

Join us in celebrating our small and home-based businesses.
