Mayor’s Column — Voorhees Police Officers participated in “No Shave November”

You may have noticed our police officers looking scruffy over the last few weeks. The Voorhees Township Police Officers participated in “No Shave November”, also known as “Noshember.” This movement started in 2007 and has been focused on men’s health issues, primarily men’s cancers. For our officers, the month of November unfolded like this:

Nov. 1 — Razors stowed, indifference ignited and Noshember begins

Nov. 1 through 7 — The week was focused on scratching and curbing the desire to shave and relieve the itchiness.

Nov. 7 — Day of gnashing of teeth

Nov. 14 — Finally not looking ridiculous (our younger Officers stilled looked ridiculous)

Thanksgiving — Mothers and Grandmothers just didn’t understand

Nov. 27 — Finally the boys, younger Officers, didn’t look ridiculous

Nov. 30 — Photograph day

Dec. 1 — Great festival day of many razors and shaving commenced

Noshember may have created “hairy situations” for anyone who came in contact with our officers, but it was for the greater good as 28 of our officers participated, each donating $25 to cancer research. The Police Union matched the officers’ donations and a total of $1,400 was donated to fighting cancer.

Thanks to our Voorhees Township Police Department for supporting such a wonderful cause.
