Mosquito treatment planned

The Burlington County Mosquito Division this evening, Thursday, Sept. 20, will be treating for adult mosquitoes in areas of Maple Shade, Mount Laurel and Tabernacle, where positive samples of West Nile Virus have been identified, county officials said today.

Treatment will take place in the vicinity of Academy Drive and South Church Street in Mount Laurel; the area around the Maple Shade sewage treatment plant on Park Avenue; and, two locations in Tabernacle — Pricketts Mill recreation field and Bozarthtown Road.

The division is planning to treat areas within approximately one-half mile radius of each location. Treatment is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. Pesticide will be applied in a mist form by a truck-mounted sprayer.

Residents are encouraged to stay indoors while treatment takes place. The respective municipalities have been notified.

The division routinely places mosquito traps in locations throughout the county as part of a continuing effort to identify the presence of West Nile Virus.
