Crossroads program raises $33,000

Crossroads Programs’ “Tee Off for Kids” golf outing and auction was held Sept. 13 at Valleybrook Country Club, and by all accounts, both the day of golf at Valleybrook and the afternoon activities of cocktail hour, dinner, auction, and awards were enjoyed by all and deemed a grand success.

Great golf scores in the sunny, 80-degree weather were followed with a thoughtful dinner blessing from former Philadelphia Eagle Irving Fryar, who then introduced a touching presentation by Miracle, a former Crossroads youth and recent college graduate.

The event, in its second year, had 105 golfers — a significant increase over last year’s 82.

Nearly $30,000 was raised through sponsorships, over $10,000 in golfer and dinner registrations, and $17,000 from onsite contests, auctions, and consignments.

Major sponsors for the event included CP Rankin Roof Management and Contracting, Shane Patrick Associates, DSA CAT Emergency Restoration, and Integrity Title Agency. Katz/Pierz, Radwell International, Lima Company, ABM, Allied Barton, Reliance Contracting and Renovations, and the Kiwanis International were all key contributors that added to the financial success, along with South Jersey Magazine as the media sponsor.

“The profit from the event was more than $33,000, a 17 percent increase over last year, so we are very pleased with the results, and are grateful for the participation and support of our corporate partners,” commented Julie Carleton, Director of Development at Crossroads. “And we could not have done it without our golf committee and the leadership of the committee co-chairs, Steve Resinski and John Converse, who are Crossroads board members.”

Crossroads Programs, whose mission is to empower homeless, abandoned, abused, and at-risk youth to lead healthy, productive lives, was founded in 1978 through a collaboration of interfaith community leaders committed to providing shelter to runaway and homeless youth.
