On Tuesday, Nov. 10, the Tabernacle Elementary School hosted its fifth Family Fitness Night.
The event was organized by Health and Physical Education teacher Beth Manning and assisted by Health and Physical Education staff members Karen Ordog, Cindy Price and Lou Santoro.
Parents and students were encouraged to attend from 6:30–8 p.m. and participate in various fitness activities.
There was a game of “Fitness Monopoly” in the all-purpose room, five fitness stations in the gymnasium, and mini yoga sessions led by Megan Achey (former Tabernacle student) from Soulscapes Fitness.
School nurse Barbara Wisnewski had a table of dental health information and handouts for the families to take home. Maria Baran, Food Services Director and Adrienne, a Dietician from Shop Rite, had visual displays, pamphlets and nutrition bars available. Tabernacle parents Dr. Ron Martin, Chiropractor and his wife Renee, talked about proper backpack weight and positioning and spinal health.
Over 180 people attended the fitness event and it was a big success. It is important to teach our students the importance of keeping active and fit.
