Applications for the Cinnaminson Police Department High School Police Academy are now available. The purpose of the academy is to introduce students to the career of law enforcement while developing a positive relationship between the department and the students of Cinnaminson.
The academy will begin June 19 and last through June 28. Lessons will include classroom lectures, demonstrations, physical activities and practical exercises. Students will learn self defense, witness motor vehicle stops and watch firearms and bomb squad demonstrations.
The fee, which includes two t-shirts, one hat and covers the supplies needed for classes, is $140 and can be made payable to the Cinnaminson Police Department.
There will be a zero tolerance rule in effect for student conduct. Students are to maintain good moral conduct and not take part in horseplay, bullying or rude behavior during the academy. A violation of this rule will result in immediate removal from theĀ academy.
All students that wish to participate in the academy must be earning a 75 percent average or above in school prior to the start of the academy. All participants must have a parent or guardian sign for permission regardless ofĀ age.
Applications will be available at the Cinnaminson Police Department, Cinnaminson High School or can be sent via email upon request. Deadline for applications is May 19 and class size will be limited to 25 students.
