County clerk to offer Valentine’s Day weddings

Burlington County Clerk Tim Tyler announced plans for weddings at the historic Smithville Mansion in Eastampton on Thursday, February 14, to commemorate St. Valentine’s Day.

“Given the enormous success of several years of St. Valentine’s Day weddings, it is once again my pleasure to offer couples the opportunity to exchange vows at the stately Smithville Mansion” said Tyler. “With the continued support and cooperation of the County Freeholders, the county Division of Parks and the Friends of Smithville Mansion, we are looking forward to hosting the event at this gorgeous and historic location.”

There are a limited number of appointments available so interested couples should contact the Clerk’s Office as soon as possible to schedule their ceremony. Weddings will be performed by appointment, with the first wedding at 2 p.m. Ceremonies will be scheduled until 6 p.m.

Couples interested in a Valentine’s Day wedding should contact the county clerk’s office at (609) 265–5142 to ensure an appointment is available.

Couples will need to obtain a marriage license from the town in which either of the parties resides.

It takes 72 hours to obtain the license, so it cannot be left until the last minute.

Tyler regularly performs wedding ceremonies for Burlington County residents and persons posted to local military facilities. Tyler has performed over 200 ceremonies in 2011 and, again, in 2012, including special events for Dec. 12, 2012 and annual holiday weddings.

Historic Smithville Park, the crown jewel of the Burlington County Parks system, is located on Smithville Road in Eastampton, just three-quarters of a mile north of Route 38.
