“Shop Burlington County” to kick off “Small Business Week”

Burlington County Freeholder Director Bruce Garganio announced that Shop Burlington County First, the county’s “buy local” initiative, will be holding a gift card drawing on May 12 to kick off Small Business Week. The drawing will occur at 10 a.m. in the Downtown Maple Shade Gazebo on E. Main St. (CR537) at North Forklanding Road.

“This is a great opportunity to promote our local businesses along with our growing Buy Local initiative,” Garganio said. “Three names will be drawn from the list of residents that have taken the pledge to “Shop Local” at www.shopburlingtoncounty.com. The first winner will receive $400 in Burlington County Gift Cards, with the second winner receiving $200, and the third receiving $100.”

“Burlington County Gift Cards, or Burlington Bucks, can be redeemed at any of the participating local businesses listed on the Shop Burlington County online directory,” Garganio said, “I want to thank each of our 14 local business association partners for joining together to provide the winnings for this raffle and for all of their work to advance this important program. Supporting our County’s local businesses is one of our top priorities.”

Only customers who have pledged at www.shopburlingtoncounty.com by noon Friday, May 9 will be eligible for the drawing. Winners will be notified that they can pick up their Gift Cards at the Freeholders meeting on Wednesday, May 14, 7 p.m. at the County Administration Building, 49 Rancocas Road, Mount Holly.

The Shop Burlington County First initiative was created last year by the Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders and its regional partners, the Burlington County Bridge Commission and the Burlington County Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Winners cannot redeem Gift Cards for cash. Gift Cards are in increments of $10 and $25 only. They are used the same as cash — they do not swipe or carry a balance. They do not expire.

“Residents can also learn more about the Shop Burlington County Initiative by liking it on Facebook at www.facebook.com/shopburlingtoncounty,” Garganio said.
