Friday, Sept. 12 was a day for festivities as the Indian Mills Home and School Association welcomed back teachers and students alike with an old fashioned picnic, complete with burgers, dogs and a dunk tank.
Led by HSA president Scott Caloiaro, Tim Carroll, principal of Indian Mills Memorial School, 10 of the school’s teachers with some spouses and district superintendent Christine Vespe volunteered to serve parents and students hamburgers, hot dogs, water ice, root beer and a wide variety of games. Carroll spent more than his share of time in the dunk tank where it seemed every ball hit the mark.
Whether it was throwing the football or engaging in a hula-hoop contest, it was a chance for parents and their children to spend quality time together. Walter Klaus, a graduate and current student at Seneca High School, provided a sound system and a constant stream of music to entertain the crowd. Students from all grade levels took advantage of the warm summer evening to run the fields and be with friends.
