Excessive Heat Warning issued for July 13

Residents are encouraged to stay cool during July 13 excessive heat.

Residents are encouraged to stay cool on Thursday, as an Excessive Heat Warning has been issued for Cherry Hill Township and much of the surrounding region.

The National Weather Service is Mt. Holly has issued the Excessive Heat Warning for Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The warning has been issued with hot and humid conditions expected in the area.

The National Weather Service is forecasting heat indexes to reach between 100 and 105 degrees on Thursday. Temperatures are expected to reach the mid-90s and dew points are expected in the low 70s.

The excessive heat will affect anyone who works outdoors, the elderly, young children and those with pre-existing health conditions.

Residents are advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check on relatives and neighbors. Those who work outside are advised to reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening, wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing and drink plenty of water. Anyone overcome by the heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. In the event of heat stroke, call 9–1–1.
