Students from Palmyra High School presented their designs at the Southern Regional STEAM Tank competition on Friday, May 5. New Jersey school board members, engineers, scientists, business owners, entrepreneurs and New Jersey Department of Education officials judged each team and evaluated their designs for creativity, marketability and application of scientific and engineering principles.

The two teams are still waiting to hear if they have been selected for the final round in October in Atlantic City. If selected, they can further develop their ideas using networking connections they established during the competition.

Team one’s idea centers around the redesign of a local bridge. Team two’s idea is electricity-generating heely footwear.
