Weekly Roundup: A Ramadan dinner took place in Palmyra, and the Borough Council fields questions about road repair

Palmyra Council fields concerns about roads in disrepair

The Borough of Palmyra Council held a meeting on June 19, to talk about resurfacing roads in the town. However, after a request to NJDOT was made about funding to support the project, the DOT denied the request of funds to the township due to lack of grants. This is the second consecutive year the Borough has been declined funds from the NJDOT.

Islamic Center holds Ramadan dinner for Mona Lari’s sisterhood of refugees

Syrian refugees and South Jersey faith leaders gathered at the Islamic Center of South Jersey on Friday, June 16 to break their Ramadan fast.

On June 16, the Islamic Center of South Jersey held a Ramadan dinner as over 30 refugee families gathered to break their fast. Mona Lari organized a gathering of her sisters and their families, which was just one example of socialization opportunities that Lari has been facilitating through her sisterhood network.

Palmyra Fire Department to hold Open House on June 29

The Palmyra Fire Department, in cooperation with the Mayor and Borough Council, will host an Open House on Thursday, June 29th from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM to address residents’ questions about the proposed replacement of the current 1992 Ladder Truck. Refreshments will be served. A joint meeting with the Mayor and Borough Council will follow at 7:00 PM, also at the Fire House.

Cat Ear Headband event to be held at Riverton Free Library

In honor of “Adopt a Cat Month”, the Riverton Library will be hosting a Cat Ear Headband event on June 30. The event will take place in the Adult Fiction Room, starting at 11:00 a.m.

Whether you like your headbands beaded, flowered, fuzzy, or fabric, there are plenty of options to choose from. Ages 10 and up are welcome.
