Palmyra Community Center, giving residents some ‘me time’ during busy fall schedules
Fall means the combination of school, sports, activities and holidays, which can take up a lot of time. The Palmyra Community Center has allowed residents to get out and enjoy themselves when they have down time in their busy schedules. One of the leaders of the Palmyra Community Center is program coordinator Lee Stoner. Stoner is closing in on her first full year of service to the center, and is also an instructor for a drawing class for adults and a youth art class as well. “Every fall we try to provide regular classes that allow some ‘me time’ for folks,” Stoner said. “We have a wide range of activities for all ages, and they can be both fun and informative.”

For people who want to make a difference in their community, there is a wide range of opportunities from which to choose. From helping at the local soup kitchen to cleaning up garbage around town, there is no limit on the number of opportunities. Palmyra resident Mark Welles served his community by donating more than 10,000 can tabs to the Charles Street School. What seemed to be a hobby in a way, Welles now sees almost two years of accumulating going to help others. “Whether they come from my house, a friend’s house or throughout my work day trips, I still make sure to collect,” Welles said. “I said that when my container was filled I would do something with them, and now is the time.”

Hey teens, grab your friends and get ready to learn/play this dice game that is fast paced, easy to learn and will have you laughing yourself silly. Sometimes you will swear that the rules are made up, but once you play, they all make perfect sense. This teenage only event takes place on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. Once you know what you are doing, you can add all sorts of house rules when you play at home. Pre-School Storytime at Riverton Free Library
Would you like to have your kids enjoy some activities before pre-school? Make sure to bring them to Pre-School Storytime at the Riverton Free Library starting Nov. 2 at 10:30 a.m. This event will take place every Thursday in November except Nov. 23 for the Thanksgiving holiday. Kids will join Ms. Nancy (or Anne Marie Dunn) for an energetic morning of songs, finger plays and stories. All kids are invited to attend, and registration is not required
