Donations are being accepted until Nov. 30.
The Harrison Township Municipal Building will serve as an official drop-off location for the annual Toys for Tots toy drive.
The township is one of several drop-off locations in Gloucester County.
Toys for Tots collects new, unwrapped toys throughout the country to gift to local kids who are less fortunate under the age of 13 years old.
The organization started in 1947 by Maj. Bill Hendricks of the United States Marine Corps., his wife Dianne and several Marine Reservists in Los Angeles collected and donated over 5,000 toys to children in need. To this day, Toys for Tots has donated over 370 million toys to children in need, according to the organization.
Drop-offs at the municipal building are being accepted until Nov. 30 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. A donation of toys for children between the ages of 10 to 12 is being requested as a shortage is in place.
Questions about the toy drive can be directed to the Diane Malloy, the township’s municipal clerk.
