The kits provide immediate access to decontamination following a firefighter’s exposure to harmful carcinogens
According to the Mt. Laurel Fire Department, the Mt. Laurel Home Depot recently donated five decontamination bucket kits to the department.
According to the department, decontamination bucket kits contain a garden hose, nozzle, dish soap, scrub brushes, a spray bottle and cleaning wipes.
Officials say the purpose of these kits is to provide immediate access to decontamination following a firefighter’s exposure to harmful carcinogens found in many of today’s fires.
According to the department, cancer rates for firefighters are on the increase and proactive measures such as this help reduce some of those occupational exposures.
Officials with the department say the department is very grateful to the Mt. Laurel Home Depot for being a great community partner and for their support.
Officials say locals can visit www.firefightercancersupport.org for additional information.
