On August 1 at 7 p.m. a representative from Franklin Templeton Investments, the managing company of NJBEST, will be on hand at Mount Laurel Library to explain how 529s work. NJBEST is a 529 College Savings Plan created by the state of New Jersey for New Jersey families who are trying to save for college.
NJBEST accounts can be opened with as little as $25. Investments in a 529 account grow free from federal and New Jersey state income tax, and qualified withdrawals are also not subject to federal or state income tax.
These and other benefits will be discussed as well as how to get started. Other college savings questions are welcome, as well.
Light refreshments will be served. No registration is required.
Mount Laurel Library is located at 100 Walt Whitman Avenue (next to the post office) in Mount Laurel. For more information, call the library at 856–234–7319 ext. 333 or visit www.mtlaurel.lib.nj.us
