Obituary: Raymond Rizzuto

Raymond Rizzuto of Mt. Laurel,formerly a resident of Wilmington, N.C. and Florham Park, passed away on March 5 at 80-years-old. He was the husband of the late Virginia; loving father of Raymond J. Rizzuto, Jr. (Andrea) of Haddonfield and the late Michael Francis and Andrew John Rizzuto; beloved grandfather of Robert Raymond and Amanda Jean Rizzuto; and dear brother of Victor Rizzuto of Manchester.

Born, one of seven children of Vito and Jennie Rizzuto, he attended Colombia High School in Maplewood where he played baseball and basketball, and met his future wife. After graduating in 1953, he enlisted in the army and served in California and Germany between 1954 and 1955 as a PFC, earning an honorable discharge. Upon returning to New Jersey, he apprenticed as a Bricklayer, and became reacquainted with his high-school sweetheart. They married in 1956, had three sons and lived in Florham Park till they retired in 1994 to North Carolina, where he pursued his passion, golf.

Mr. Rizzuto’s family will received friends on Saturday, March 14 at Christ the King RC Church of Haddonfield, where his funeral mass was also held. Interment was private.
