The Mt. Laurel Police Department is seeking candidates for the position of part-time school crossing guard.
The position is at Larchmont School along Larchmont Boulevard. The hours of the crossing post are Monday through Friday, 8:30 to 9:05 a.m. and 3:20 to 3:50 p.m. or 12:55- to 1:25 p.m. on half days, during days the Mount Laurel School District is in session. Pay consists of two hours per day at $11.88 per hour. Crossing guards report to the Mt. Laurel Police Department Traffic Bureau.
School crossing guards assist children on their way to and from school in safely crossing roadways and intersections. They watch for gaps in traffic and walk children across the roadway or intersection while holding a “stop” sign in such a manner as to be visible to approaching vehicles.
Applicants must be 18 years of age and a citizen and resident of New Jersey. Candidates must be sound in good health and must pass a physical exam administered by the township physician. Candidates should also have good moral character and have not been convicted of any criminal offense involving moral turpitude.
