The South Jersey Pops will perform a program featuring patriotic tunes and Americana on Sunday, May 17, at Lenape High School. Doors will open at 2:30 p.m. with the performance starting at 3 p.m.
Joining the Pops will be the Shawnee Singers, a high school chorus under the direction of Rob Joubert performing with the orchestra “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” and John Williams’ “Hymn to the Fallen” from the film, “Saving Private Ryan.”
Also performing will be the Fort Delaware Cornet Band, which performs with both original and reproduction instruments from the Civil War era.
“This will be a moving and rousing program of patriotic music and we are delighted to be featuring the talents of the Shawnee Singers and the Fort Delaware Cornet Band,” said music director Robert Schiavinato.
“The American Frontier” a medley of songs evoking images of the American west, and “Amazing Grace” are among the works programmed by Schiavinato for this performance.
Tickets to “A Special Patriotic Show” will be available at the door or may be purchased on line at www.southjerseypops.org. The cost is $8 for adults and $5 for active military personnel and veterans. Children of middle school age and younger are admitted free.
