Burlington County Sheriff announces new terrorism awareness program

Burlington County Sheriff Jean Stanfield has announced that the Burlington County Anti-Terrorism Task Force will be launching a new Terrorism Awareness Program designed to address the growing threat of soft target attacks.

“In the first phase of this program our Anti-Terrorism Task Force will be offering “train-the-trainer” sessions in which local first responders will be taught how to educate their citizens on identifying potential signs of terrorist activity, as well as how to respond during an active shooter situation,” Stanfield said. “These sessions are free and participants will receive training materials to use in their municipalities.

“Our goal is to provide participants in these sessions with the knowledge and skills necessary to go back to their communities and train their residents on what they have learned. Ultimately we know that understanding these threats can help to keep our residents safe in an increasingly dangerous world,” Stanfield said.

Two initial classes will be held on the following dates at the Burlington County Emergency Services Training Center, located at 53 Academy Drive, Westampton on Tuesday, Sept. 13 from 9 to 11 a.m. and on Wednesday, Sept. 14 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

First-responders looking to attend can register for the session of their choosing by calling Jennifer Napier at (609) 265–3788 or by email at [email protected]
