Rowan College at Burlington County is welcoming its newest Board of Trustees member interim executive county superintendent Daryl Minus-Vincent.
Minus-Vincent brings more than 20 years of experience working directly with local school districts in Burlington County and the region.
Minus-Vincent, of Lumberton, who was appointed to the board as part of his role of interim executive superintendent, has worked for local school districts, held several positions at the N.J. Department of Education and served on two local boards of education.
“We are pleased to welcome Superintendent Minus-Vincent to Rowan College at Burlington County,” RCBC President Paul Drayton said. “Mr. Minus-Vincent has a wealth of public school experience that we will utilize as we work more closely with local districts — particularly in growing our College Head Start in High Schools program that allows students to complete their freshman year of college before graduating high school.”
Before his appointment as the state’s chief education officer in Burlington County, Minus-Vincent spent 16 years in the Department of Education as an education specialist and education program development specialist. He previously served as substance abuse coordinator for local school districts — Willingboro and Trenton. He has represented his community on the Rancocas Valley Regional High School and Lumberton Township boards of education.
“For many, public education is the key to a strong, healthy and productive life,” Minus-Vincent said. “We have the responsibility to equip students with the tools and educational supports to be productive citizens and compete in the global society. I am so pleased to join Rowan College at Burlington County that provides students with more powerful and affordable tools for success.”
Burlington County Freeholder Mary Ann O’Brien welcomed Minus-Vincent and the college’s approach to increase College Head Start programs.
“Earning college credits in high school helps students succeed in college and complete degrees more quickly and at a lower cost,” O’Brien said. “I applaud RowanCollege at Burlington County for expanding these opportunities for students and I welcome Superintendent Minus-Vincent, who will be a strong advocate for students throughout Burlington County to reach greater heights.”
Minus-Vincent officially joined the board earlier this month.
“I have known Superintendent Minus-Vincent for a long time and I am so happy for his career success and that he is joining our Board of Trustees,” Board Chair George Nyikita said. “Our board is very excited about Rowan College at Burlington County’s transformation into a national leader of high-quality affordable education and we’re thrilled to add an experienced educator who can help our efforts to strengthen our relationships with local schools.”
