A 94-year old-victim recently received a phone call from a man posing as her grandson claiming to be in jail in Virginia.
The following information is on file with the Mt. Laurel Police Department:
On Dec. 13, police say a 94-year-old victim received a phone call from a man posing as her grandson.
The man claimed that he was in jail in Virginia and needed $2,000 for bail.
According to police the man pleaded for the victim to send him the money, and believing the caller was her grandson, police say the victim sent the money via an electronic money transfer at a Walmart.
Police say the the woman later discovered that her grandson was not in jail and that she had been scammed.
